Privacy Policy

Friendly is your friend group's home base, the app you use together to plan get-togethers and settle up afterwards. Everything in it is invite-only. This page explains, in plain language, what information Friendly stores, who can see it, and how you can delete it.

The short version. We store what you type into Friendly so your friends can see it. We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. You can delete your account and its data at any time.

What we store

Your account: your name, email address, and password (stored by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see the password itself). Optionally, your phone number and your Venmo handle if you add them so friends can pay you back.
Your groups and events: group names and members; event titles, dates, times, locations, notes, themes, and cover images; RSVPs, +1s, hypes, answers to host questions, and waitlist/approval status.
What you share at events: party-wall comments, photos you add, polls and votes, and playlist songs.
Expenses: the descriptions, amounts, and splits you enter, and settlements you record. Friendly never collects or stores payment cards, bank details, or Venmo/Apple Cash credentials. Those apps open on their own when you choose to pay.
Contacts you choose to invite: in the iPhone app, if you allow access to Contacts, Friendly reads your address book on your device so you can pick people by name or phone number. Only the name and phone number or email of the people you actually invite are stored, on that invitation. Your address book is never uploaded.
Push notification token: if you turn on notifications in the iPhone app, a device token so we can deliver them. Turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time.
AI cover prompts: if you ask Friendly to generate a cover image, the description you type is sent to an image-generation service to make the picture (see “Services we use”). The prompt is used only to generate that image; the image is stored with your event.

Who can see it

Only the people involved. Group content is visible to that group's members and people invited to it; event content is visible to the host, co-hosts, and invited guests; expenses are visible to the people they involve. These limits are enforced by our server rules, not just the app's screens. Nothing in Friendly is public or searchable by other users.

How we use it

To run Friendly: showing your events to your guests, sending the notifications you've opted into (new invites, comments, RSVPs, and a reminder the morning of an event), and keeping track of who owes whom. That's it. We do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell or rent it, and we do not build profiles of you for anyone else.

Services we use

Google Firebase / Google Cloud (United States) hosts our database, sign-in, and notification delivery. Firebase privacy.
Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini) generates AI cover images from your prompt, inside our own Google Cloud project. If Google's service is unavailable, the prompt is sent to Pollinations.ai, an independent free image generator, as a fallback. In both cases only the prompt text is sent, never your name, email, or event details.
Apple Push Notifications delivers notifications to iPhones.
GitHub Pages serves this website.

We don't use analytics or advertising SDKs, and there are no third-party trackers in the app or on this site.

Deleting your information

Events, groups, comments, photos, expenses: delete them in the app whenever you like. Hosts can remove guests; group owners can remove members.
Your account: use Delete account in the app's settings. This removes your profile, your sign-in, your push token, and your personal fields from groups. Content you posted into shared events (like a comment on someone else's party wall) may remain visible to that event's guests, attributed to “a former member.”
You can also email us (address below) and we'll delete your account for you within 7 days.

Children

Friendly is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If we change how Friendly handles your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
